Who we are
This site is run by Louise A Harris, author of Un-Squeeze : How to Lead Change with Less Stress and Greater Impact. Louise is responsible for protecting the personal information collected here. Questions, requests and concerns about your information can be sent to the contact address at the end of this notice.
What we collect
When you join the launch crew, we collect:
- your name, occupation and email address
- the exact wording of the email consent you agreed to, and the date and time you agreed
- the date and time you confirmed your email address
- any optional ways you chose to help with the launch, such as writing a review or sharing the book
- how many times you downloaded the preprint, and when you first downloaded it
When you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we receive from that service:
- your name and email address, and whether the service has verified that email
- which service you signed in with, and an account number that service gives us
We do not receive your Google or LinkedIn password, contacts or posts. When you open the resources room, we also ask for your occupation, and we record which resources you open or download and when. If you tick the box to receive updates, we keep the wording you agreed to and the date and time.
Why we collect it
- to confirm that your email address is yours before sending you anything else
- to send you the free preprint and the launch emails you agreed to receive
- to give you access to the resources room
- to keep a record of your consent, as Canadian anti-spam law requires
- to understand which resources are useful so we can improve them
We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
Emails and your consent
After you join, we send one email asking you to confirm your address. Once you confirm, we send your preprint and, from then on, emails about the launch. The link to your preprint is personal to you, so please do not share it. You can stop receiving emails at any time by replying to any email with the word "unsubscribe" or by writing to the contact address below. We will stop within 10 business days.
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to keep sign in secure. The sign in cookie lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics services.
Who helps us run the site
We use a small number of service providers. Each one handles your information only to provide its service to us.
- canner.ca hosts this site and its database. Your information is stored on their servers in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Like most hosts, they may keep standard technical logs, such as the internet address a visit came from.
- Hostinger provides the mailbox that sends our emails. When we email you, your name, email address and the message pass through Hostinger, which may process them outside Canada.
- Google and LinkedIn handle sign in if you choose to use them. Their own privacy policies apply to the information they hold about you.
Information processed outside Canada may be accessible to courts and authorities in those countries under their laws.
How we protect it
Only the site owner can see the crew list and records. The site and its database are reached over encrypted connections. The links in our emails use long random codes, and we store only a scrambled version of each code, so the links cannot be recreated from our records.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you are part of the crew or have access to the resources. If you ask us to delete it, we will do so within 30 days, except for the record of your consent, which we may keep for up to three years to show that our emails were sent with permission.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Write to the contact address below and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, if you live in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell crew members by email.
